Mir Hossein Mousavi and Seyed Mohammad Khatami stated in a meeting that the nation of Iran will not be deviated from its path by force and pressure.
The prime minister of the holy defense era [1] and the Reformist president expressed their concerns over the continuation of detainments, unethical behaviors, defamation and slanders without an opportunity to respond, and limitations of basic freedom which is against the Constitution and Sharia and ethical standards. They have emphasized their serious commitment to defend the Constitution, ideals of the Revolution and Islamic Republic and stated that the current situation is misfortunate for the Revolution, the country and people.
Furthermore, they indicated that our brave society that has found their way to justice, freedom, independence and development especially with the help of the Islamic Revolution will not be deviate from its path by force and pressure. They reassured that the admirers of the Revolution, Imam and greatness of Iranians will not abandon their nationalistic and divine responsibilities despite of all the challenges and problems.
Mousavi and Khatami asserted that what we need more than ever is a return to the Constitution and an aversion from violation and misinterpretation of this important national covenant. They emphasized that if the way of those who admire the independence of the country and the sympathizers of the Islamic Republic to criticize policies and behaviors is blocked, and if people are not allowed to express their civil protests the best opportunity will rise for activations of currents that will not be compatible with the Revolution and its basic establishment. These current will be further reinforced if the current state media that are supposed to be at the service of the ideals of the Revolution continue their slander, forgery and falsification of the facts.
These two long-time followers of the departed Imam reassured that it is of the best interest of the country that this current security atmosphere is eliminated so that public media and newspaper can fulfill their responsibilities.
