In the name of God, the Compassionate and the Merciful,
Noble people of Iran,
We approach the final days of the year 1388 when our nation’s determination and wisdom of our great nation to pursue all legal matters and rights is a source of great pride in our struggle against tyranny, humbling the world with its glory and dignity. This was a year in which the epic Green Movement stood for freedom and democracy, and in opposition to cruelty and violence; a year in which the clear-sightedness shown by you and your children and the despotic behavior of the blind and the power-hungry has played out in the form of a national tragedy – a tragedy that has left the unforgettable imprint of obscenities and wrong-doings in our national consciousness, alongside our most respected civil and religious rights.
We embrace this New Year, with some families still mourning the loss of their loved ones, while many others continue to yearn for any news regarding the fate of their innocent children, youth and beloved who remain behind bars. To add insult to injury, inflation, factory closures and a decrease in the production of those factories that remain open have lead to an ever increasing amount of unemployment. Not one day goes by without us witnessing the cries of workers protesting in various cities across Iran – workers who have not been paid in months, protesting in vain, as their cries go unheard in the chaos of injustice created through false propaganda by those in power.
A government that preferred to focus on political slogans rather than ensuring the people’s economic well-being and promised to bring wealth generated by oil to people’s homes, has now stifled our freedom and made it impossible for people to acquire food. Those who viewed economic growth as colonial and unjust and pledged justice and equality through the recommendation of non-expansionary policies, can now be ‘proud’ of leaving our nation with the ‘gift’ of deepening class differences, increased poverty and a reduction in our GDP growth down to 2.7 percent.
In this environment and despite the obvious difference in atmosphere from previous years, they continue to use the media to pour salt on the wounds of our mourning families who are uncertain of the fate of their loved ones and impose national celebrations based on pretence and false happiness.
The Mojahedin of the Islamic Revolution Organization, while wishing the noble people of Iran a Happy New Year, is certain of the fact that our loving and compassionate nation will never allow the aforementioned families to be forgotten in this organized media blitz designed to create a false sense of happiness. We ask the kind and giving people of Iran to keep the families of our martyrs in their hearts during New Year rituals of Norooz, by visiting them and consoling them in their sorrow. Let us invite them to spend this Norooz with us and to experience what a difference a Green New Year makes. The continued enrichment of these experiences will ensure the survival, prosperity and victory of Iran’s Green Movement of reform.
