Reformist delegates of the opposition in Parliament meet Mousavi

Source: ParlemanNews
Date: Tuesday, April 06, 2010

Mir Hossein Mousavi, the prime minister during the holy defense [in the war], viewed the perspective that recognizes only one school of thought and one party and denies the collective wisdom as the main cause behind the events following the elections. He further renounced depictions that the State Television broadcasted about the departed Imam [Khomeini] and viewed them as ruining the fundamentals of the establishment. He further added: “State TV despoils the doctrine and behavior of the departed Imam Khomeini. This is exactly what foreign news agencies do.”

According to reports of Parleman News Agency, members of [the minority opposition] Committee of Imam’s Path visited Mir Hossein Mousavi as part of New Year rituals. … Continue Reading

Kalemeh reports the complete transcripts of this message as follows:

In the name of God, the Compassionate and the Merciful,

The unified caravan of martyrs

I wish all of our people a Happy New Year, as we approach the green spring and this national holiday. I will especially make note of the families of those who lost their lives while defending our independence during the [Iran-Iraq] war, the veterans, the injured, and those who suffered in any way. I should also mention the martyrs and those injured in 1388, [1][the year that is coming to an end], since I see their fate as connected to that of the war-time martyrs; they are all a apart of the caravan of martyrs that our country has produced over the … Continue Reading

In the name of God, the Compassionate and the Merciful,

I would like to thank you for being present here. We are currently facing an extraordinary situation. It would have made me happy to see our other friends among you as well – friends who are currently in prison, such as Mr. Mirdamadi.

As a political party, you are better informed of the situation that we are currently in. You are [also well] aware of the restrictions and limitations that the Islamic Participation Front faces. In many countries, the activities of [opposition] parties and other groups are welcomed and encouraged since they provides a means for diagnosing national problems and solving them based on collective reasoning. … Continue Reading

Mousavi’s Interview with Kaleme after 22 Bahman: Complete Text

Source: Kaleme
Date:  Saturday, February 27,  2010

Kaleme: Three weeks have passed since the 22nd of Bahman rally, which has prompted many discussions and comments. What is your opinion?

Mousavi: It is not the first time that the ceremonies of 22 Bahman have been held in our country. These ceremonies are in remembrance of the 1979 rallies [and have taken place] on different occasions with more than a million people [taking part]. Every year, those who support the revolution participate in these ceremonies, in which traditional institutions such as mosques and religious assemblies play an important role in organization. Usually, each year’s ceremonies are influenced by important events that have taken place that year as well as the country’s political atmosphere. … Continue Reading

Mousavi and Karoubi: We Will Address the People Shortly

Source: Kaleme
Date: Thursday, February 18, 2010

Last night, Mehdi Karoubi met with Mir Hossein Mousavi for two hours. They praised the people’s peaceful demonstration on February 11th (22 Bahman) and criticized those who wanted to exploit the presence of different social groups for their political agenda.

During this meeting they also criticized the violent extremists of Tehran and other major cities – extremists who obstructed the peaceful demonstration using violence. According to Mousavi and Karoubi, these extremists are responsible for the complete militarization and environment of fear that appeared for the first time in thirty years, on a day that belongs to every Iranian – a day celebrating the victory of the Revolution. … Continue Reading

Mir Hossein Mousavi ‘s Interview with Kaleme

Source: Kaleme.org
Date: Tuesday, February 2, 2010

Kaleme reports that in this interview, which took place close to February 11th [22 Bahman, the 31st anniversary of the Islamic revolution], Mousavi stated that the main reason for the collapse of the Shah’s dictatorial and unpopular regime was its illegitimacy [in the eyes of its citizens]. He emphasized that the resistance displayed by the Iranian people is a cherished legacy of the Islamic revolution, as is their intolerance for dishonesty, fraud and corruption. The complete interview is provided below.

We are approaching the 31st anniversary of the Islamic revolution. How can we benefit from the recollection and commemoration of those days?

First and foremost, I want to congratulate everyone on the [upcoming] 31st anniversary of our [victory in the] revolution, specifically the families of our martyrs, our [war] veterans and our [former] prisoners of war [with Iraq]. Analysis of the Islamic revolution has not yet come to an end. There have been thousands of books and articles written about it and many still to come. It is interesting that the recent elections – as well as the events that followed – have brought forth new critiques of the revolution. … Continue Reading

Mousavi’s 17th Statement: “Killing us will only make us stronger.”

Mousavi’s 17th Statement: “Killing us will only make us stronger.”

Source: Kaleme
Date: Friday, January 1, 2010

In the name of God, the Merciful and the Compassionate,

“Greetings to Hussein, the third Imam; Indeed, I am a friend to those who are your friends, and I fight against those who fight you. I am companion to those who accompany you, and an enemy to your enemies. I wish I were with you; if this were the case, my success would be a glorious victory.”(A Hadith)[i]

Despite numerous requests, neither Hojatoleslams Karoubi and Khatami, nor I, nor any of my friends, issued any statements for the rituals commemorating Imam Hussein. Nevertheless, pious people went to the streets, proving that the vast social and civil networks that people themselves formed during and after the election do not wait for us or our statements. People took to the streets even while lacking a newspaper to accompany and encourage them, or a fair and impartial national broadcasting channel. Yet again, every nation and, indeed, the whole world, witnessed the mourners of Imam Hussein walking the streets and speaking the name of Hussein.  They marched non-violently, without any radical slogans, down the roads and avenues of their own choosing. … Continue Reading

Dear students – I am glad that I can talk to you once more and I send my warmest regards. This is not the first time that I am in your presence although I would like to be among you instead of talking to you through a video message. God willing, that will truly happen someday. This gathering is being held while our country is in dire straits. Under these circumstances, the students are faced with great challenges. However, based on the tidings of the Almighty, I am certain and hopeful that “with every difficulty there will be relief” [1]. God willing, the current problems will come to a satisfactory and expedient end by means of the people’s efforts.

Date: Sunday, December 13, 2009

Representatives of a group of reformist parties in Fars province met with Mir Hossein Mousavi for the anniversary of martyrdom of Ayatollah Dastgheib [the father] and recommitted themselves to the ideals of the martyrdom and revolution.
Accroding to Rahesabz, in this meeting Mir Hossein Mousavi highlighted the role of Ayatollah Dastgheib and said: “We lost great many faces during the revolution, it was destined to be this way that great men like Ayatollahs Madani, Dastgheib and Sadoughi and other martyrs who were martyred during their prayers departed from among us. Though their martyrdom was a great tragedy, continuity in the path of Revolution is indebted to their blood.”
Mousavi specially praised Ayatollah Seyed Ali Mohammad Dastgheib [the son] and said: “In this time where lack of media is a significant disadvantage [for us], it is great that people can hear the words of truth from a source of immolation [1]. This is something for which we are very grateful. We expect nothing from other Marjas[1];other than to share what they find as the truth of the matters with people.”

Mousavi’s Interview with Islamic Republic Daily

Source: Kaleme
Date: Friday, December 11, 2009

In his first official interview after the elections with Islamic Republic Daily, Mir Hossein Mousavi recognized tearing up the picture of Imam [Khoemini] as a very suspicious incident and an as against the values [of the Islamic Revolution.]
In response to the question regarding tearing up the picture of Imam [Khomeini] and the display of this action from Islamic Republic Broadcasting and foreign media, Mousavi said: “Honorable Imam Khomeini is the same person who revived religion in this recent century, a great symbol of justice for all nations for resistance against oppressors. All nations, specially the Muslim nations and the Iranians are great debt to him. Certainly, no just or devout person would bring himself to commit such disrespect to his picture.”
Mir Hossein Mousavi added: “Those who even distantly sympathize with me would never allow disrespect to the honorable Imam Khomeini. They view maintaining his respect as essential. I am confident that university students would never commit such and act transubstantiation because we all … Continue Reading

Mousavi’s 16th Statement: The Commemoration of Azar 16th

Source: Kaleme.com
Date: Saturday, December 6th 2009

In the name of God, the Compassionate and the Merciful

I congratulate the coming anniversary of Eid Ghadeer [1] to the Muslim nation of Iran. I pray the Great God to help us get our nation and all the Muslims around the world closer to the ideals of the person [Imam Ali] who the Ghadeer occasion belongs to. In this time of celebration, the Shiite wishes wellbeing and prosperity for one another and ask each other for gifts that would help them accomplish such wishes. They wish for a fine destiny for our nation and country especially in these crisis stricken times. It is expected from us to commit to the same action. It was still our duty to fulfill the wish [of putting our nation onto a path to a find destiny] even if this expectation did not exist. What we can do in this regards is to maintain loyalty in looking for the good [of our nation even when it is not accepted as is] and persistence in thinking for the future [of our nation even when it is not called as such.] Dangers ahead are too serious to let us or others think of our own interests, and the realities we face are too severe to disappear through ignorance. With the help of the ambiance of elegance that the Eid has provided in addition to the anniversary of 16th of Azar (December 7) as the day of University Students, no topic would be better to talk about other than a solution to our current crisis; a solution that is not necessarily bitter to swallow if we put away our prejudgments.

Mousavi’s 15th Statement: 30th Anniversary of the Formation of the Basij

Mousavi’s 15th Statement: 30th Anniversary of the Formation of the Basij

Source: Kaleme.com
Date: Tuesday, November 25, 2009

In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

5th of Azar (November 26) is the anniversary of creation of ‘Basij[1] of the Oppressed’ by Imam Khomeini. This anniversary is an opportunity to have a second look at this influential institution in the history of the Islamic revolution: What was the Basij? What is it now? and what should it be? What force created the Basij, and gave it a name and recognition? What made it a hero of all the different tastes and inclinations [of different classes] in a period of the modern history of this land? That glorious history and great success known as Basij was not achieved through extensive budgets, and expensive weapons. It was not excellent institutionalized organization techniques that made the Basij as glorious as a tale of magnificent proportions. It was not military power that formed Basij. Instead, it was deep and pure intentions that created this high tower and nurtured role models whose names are remembered as if they were loyal friends of the prophet.

In addition, in the history of the revolution, Basij is the symbol and centerpiece of courage and persistence of our nation. 30 years ago, Imam created ‘Basij of the Oppressed’ to stand against probable military assault of superpowers. … Continue Reading

Mousavi’s 2nd Internet Interview – On Aban 13

Source: Kaleme.com
Date: Tuesday, November 21, 2009

Q) On this year’s anniversary of the Aban 13 (November 4) people were faced with violent security and military that was unheard of. The extent of forces was very massive. What is your opinion on the results that orchestartors of these forces were after? Did they achieve their aims? How do you see the Aban 13 of this year in general? What were some of the outcomes?

A) This year’s anniversary of the Aban 13 was turned into something great to remembered because of the way people were present on the streets and on political scene [in general.] During the first days of the revolution we had various events. Gradually, because of extravagant repeats, lack of innovation, stepping away from the roots, we distanced ourselves from the motivations that led to the atmosphere in those days and of those ceremonies. We forgot about the atmosphere [of kinship] that had taken over the nation, we forgot about all the fundamental values that were the actual causes of such ceremonies and events.

Mahdi Karoubi: Complete Statement for the Anniversary of the Birth of the Green Movement

June 20, 2010

The vote they stole from you and the rights that they took from you unjustly are a shameful stain that cannot be hidden with whatever colour it is painted over. This is so much the case that after one year, despite all the pressures and intimidation, not only have your rightful demands not been forgotten, but this desire for change has taken deep root in different layers of society, based on an extensive social network.
