In the most recent meeting of Mr. Mousavi with sons and daughters war veterans, Mr. Mousavi elaborated on the influences of the Green Movement, and emphasized on the endurance and unity as two elements that could achieve the desired changes in the country. According to Kaleme, Mousavi acknowledged the affinity and unity amongst different groups of people and said: “We are following the same principles that were applied when the [green] human chain was created from one corner of Tehran to another. All of us, from different opinions, cultures and ethnicities, would eventually come to talk easier with each other.”

What connects our institutions are: Freedom, Justice and Protection of people’s rights
The Green Movement has brought about the context for national conciliation

Political institutions that were taken apart through wrong policies are gradually getting closer and closer. They negotiate and share ideas at dinner tables. It is [demand for] freedom, justice and protection of people’s rights that is connecting them. The lines that separated us from ‘them’ are fading away and different sides are talking more to each other. … Continue Reading

Mousavi’s Speech in meeting with Iran-Iraq war Veterans

Date: Wednesday, August 18, 2010

According to reports by Kaleme, Mir Hossein Mousavi, president during the eight sacred years of war, met with a group of veterans of the Iran-Iraq war yesterday. In this meeting in which Zahra Rahnavard was also present, the veterans in addition to describing the difficulties and challenges they faced upon their release from Saddam Hossein’s prisons, shared their opinion on the political, economic and social challenges, particularly those that have arisen since the presidential elections last year.

During their discussion with Mousavi the veterans pointed to the economic and social challenges and hardships they and their families had faced upon their release from prison. They stated that the recent imprisonment of veterans by the current government because of expressing their political views during the election campaign is even more regrettable than enduring years of incarceration in Saddam notorious prisons.

After remarks by these noble veterans, Mir Hossein Mousavi while congratulating them on the anniversary of the day marking the return of the prisoners of war said: “During the eight year holy war against Iraq, our nation and government never forgot our soldiers and POWs. The news regarding the POWs was focused upon on a daily and hourly basis.”

Mousavi’s letter on the ‘Constitutional Monarchy’ Movement

Mousavi’s letter on the ‘Constitutional Monarchy’ Movement

Source: Rahesabz
Date: Thursday, August 5, 2010

We are in the midst of the anniversary of the Constitutional Monarchy Movement, which has emphasized the need to restrain the power of the monarchy for more than a hundred years. Aside from demands for justice, freedom and the establishment of law, the achievement of this restraint is the result of our ancestors’ struggle and self-sacrifice. The [various] institutions that appeared along with the movement were constrained by Reza Pahlavi’s so-called “modernization” campaign and were ultimately closed down despite the many lives lost [in the process]. The movement that put people first had been obstructed and the dark era of the first and second Pahlavi Dynasties came to overshadow its fundamental values. However, the values that had surfaced with great sacrifice continued to live on in the people’s constant struggle to free themselves from despotism and authoritarianism, as well as through their inclinations toward freedom, justice and the demand to control their own destiny.

The martyrdom of those like Sattar Khan, the General of the People, and the brave member of Parliament, Moddaress, as well as the murder and imprisonment of many other freedom-seeking activists are historical facts that are evidence of the difficulty of this path. The movements that later nationalized the Oil and organized the People’s Rising on June 5 and, later, the harsh struggles of the following two decades, all show that what was achieved in terms of restraining power not only failed to fade away but also remained as a constant model for people to look up to in future struggles.

Mousavi’s Meeting with Students from Teacher’s College

In a meeting with a group of professors from the Teacher’s College, Mir Hossein Mousavi made the following statement:

“We believe that lies, oppression, and fighting the authority of the law destroy the legitimacy of the establishment. The Qur’an, our Prophet, and the exalted events of Ashura demonstrate that oppression cannot remain. I believe that, God willing, the Green Movement will soon see victory because it is seeking to revive the rights of the people; because it is an advocate of human freedoms as well as rationality and reason. The Green Movement will be victorious because it stands against force, lies and oppression. … Continue Reading

In the name of God, the Compassionate and the Merciful,

We are still standing tall and proud on the first anniversary of the tenth presidential elections despite our whipped body, which endures bruises and imprisonments. Our demands are the same: freedom, social justice and the formation of [legitimate] national governance. We are confident of victory, hoping for the will and support of God, because we have not demanded anything other than the restoration of our national rights. … Continue Reading

In the Name of the Almighty,

The fact that the authorities have declined to issue a permit [allowing us] to march on June 12 shows, more than ever, that they are afraid of the recurrence of last year’s magnificent rallies. This shows that despite tight security, year-long clampdowns, imprisonments, one-sided use of state TV and [other] government-funded media (not to mention the millions of dollars spent on broadcasting), the totalitarians have not been able to convince people of their honesty and good-will. If they had, what need would there have been for all this expense, military force, and dishonesty? … Continue Reading

Mousavi’s Interview with Kalemeh

Mousavi’s Interview with Kalemeh

Source: Kaleme
Date: Tuesday , June 02, 2010

Kalemeh: We are approaching the anniversary of the departure of Imam [Khomeini.] This year the ceremonies seem different from previous years. On one side old opponents of Imam inside and outside the country try to desecrate his image and they are supported by foreign media. On the other side, there are those in State TV and the strong advocates of imprisonments that promote and image of the Imam that advocated oppression. What is your opinion on the goals that these groups seek? And what may this end with?

If the unintended collaboration of the State TV and opponents of Imam in desecration of his image is allowed to continue and is not responded to, it would end with nothing but hatred towards our past. These new images are introduced by constant meddling in the original perception of Imam and the revolution. Those who have directly experienced those years with Imam perceive and image of him that has no proximity to what is being promoted right now. … Continue Reading

Karoubi wished a good and dignified year for Mir Hossein Mousavi and for people of Iran. He prayed the almighty to provide the grounds for freedom of political prisoners.

Most of the legislations in the country are aimless, and merely for the sake of legislating something

Mir Hossein Mousavi criticized the policies underway and said: “most of our policies are unplanned and aimless. Unfortunately, our frameworks are like sand holes that cannot hold even a drop of water. Currently we do not have a clear and concise frameworks or plans. We must think more long term. The conditions in the government are such that everyone is assumed a conspirator and officials suffer from illusions of conspiracy. … Continue Reading

Mousavi’s Important Speech to Veterans Association: “No. This is not Islam”

Source: Kaleme
Date: Sunday, April 25, 2010

Kaleme: A group of veterans from the Islamic Revolution and [Iran-Iraq] war visited the prime minister of Iran under Ayatollah Khomeini [Mr. Mir Hossein Mousavi]. Mousavi made some important statements during this meeting.
Based on Kaleme’s report, Mir Hossein Mousavi began by thanking the veterans, and added: “You veterans of our struggle are committed to principles and values and care deeply about solving our country’s problems [with humility]. You don’t want any ranks and positions for yourselves. You do not pursue any personal interests [as you serve the country], and you don’t want to take advantage of the situation for you own benefits. This is why your opinions and thoughts are important, particularly since you are rooted in the revolution and you miss the enlightened and spiritual atmosphere that the revolution promised us and you are still in pursuit of such an environment.

Independency is a widely known value among Iranians:
They accuse the Green Movement of dependency to west, and yet, they are, themselves, after wiring letters and gaining attention from west:

He expressed great importance on this topic and added: “it is this subject that maintains our Islamic identity. We indeed require introducing Islam in its great form so that we can rescue our people and especially youth generation, otherwise there is no reason to, God forbid, to witness tendency to secularism across the society.”

This is a process that needs patience, perseverance and call for great endurance against the hardships and challenges ahead.”

Mousavi expressed that the Green Movement sets and follows up on goals that are originated in the values and demands of the Iranian people. He said: “We must create a coherent civil society using all the available resources in the country.” He then expressed how necessary it is to create “people’s green institutions” in different affairs of the country to push forward for gradual creation of the desired civil society. He added: “What happened in the 25th of Khordaad last year in Tehran with that heavy and kind presence of people together accompanied by an environment of peace, endurance, perseverance and kinship along with their reaction as civil dissidents is a perfect example of a desired civil society.”

Spreading the goals of green movement in universities

Mirhossein Mousavi in a meeting with members of student committee of Mojahedin of Islamic Revolution party provided an analysis of the current situation in the country. Referring to the great potentials of human resources in universities he continued: “The progress of Green Movement in universities has not been inhibited by suppression. On the contrary the existing situation has made the aspirations of the Green Movement more widespread within the universities. Today the political activism based on rationality is spreading in universities. Practical discussions on strengths and weaknesses [of the movement], in conjunction with contemplation and perseverance in continuing the green path is essential. The reason that the far-flung wave of arrests has not curbed the green movement is manifested in the key slogan shouted by people: “we are numerous.” This slogan is very important. There are three and half million students in universities [across the country] and the majority of them are aware that the road to greatness of [our] nation is in spreading the green waves of awareness and responsibility among the population. The students are children of public and so far have succeeded in raising awareness and informing the public. … Continue Reading

Members of the Isfahan branch of the Institution of Intellectuals, which is part of the national Student Alumni community, met with Abdollah Mo’meni, their recently-released spokesperson. This corresponded with Mousavi and Rahnavard’s recent visit to Mo’meni’s home.

During that visit, Mr. Mousavi expressed great optimism for the future of the opposition movement, revealing that “a new season will come, and [it cannot be stopped].” Responding to an inquiry about what motivated him to stand his ground after the election, Mr. Mousavi referred to reviving the rights of people based on [his] commitment to the fundamentals of ethics, Islam, and humanism. Moreover, he stated the following: “Our moral duty must be to identify what is dark as dark, and what is white as white in a practical way. When the Iranian nation attended the elections in those numbers, I felt the obligation to stand with it side by side. To be honest with you, I followed after them.” … Continue Reading

Reformist delegates of the Islamic Revolution Mujahedin from the 6th Parliament visited Mr. Mir Hossein Mousavi.

In this meeting, before Mr. Mousavi, some of the members of this committee spoke. Mr. Mousavi followed by acknowledging the importance of their issues and added: “Our establishment is suffering from problems these days that go beyond street demonstrations. Our issues and problems are much deeper than things like street protests. One of these very problems is that the government thinks overcoming the street protests means solving the issues with dissidents who attended the demonstrations.”

Mr. Mousavi continued: “Everything that should serve as the source of pillars and basis of legitimacy and credibility for a system is decaying. Systems of government usually rely on their hard forces [of security, military, and intelligence] to maintain themselves in the final stages by any means. But we saw that in our country they relied upon too. This is something to pay a great deal of attention to and think about. Issue of ‘Lies’ has become the prominent issue of our day such that people are objecting to it. Unfortunately, lies are told very easily in levels of governance and their propagandas. … Continue Reading

Mahdi Karoubi: Complete Statement for the Anniversary of the Birth of the Green Movement

June 20, 2010

The vote they stole from you and the rights that they took from you unjustly are a shameful stain that cannot be hidden with whatever colour it is painted over. This is so much the case that after one year, despite all the pressures and intimidation, not only have your rightful demands not been forgotten, but this desire for change has taken deep root in different layers of society, based on an extensive social network.

Achieving rights and respect for workes is preconditioned by taking up correct social and economic policies that would stimulate the economy and create jobs for everyone who has qualification without any discrimination based on people’s beliefs and ethnicity.
